the theory of we

we are physics in motion
my darling.
every particle that we are
acting or reacting to
some invisible force
that we can’t see.

you draw me in
like a black hole dimension
but just before you crush me down
into a speck so small,
i somehow manage to escape.
and that is, as you know,
the magnificence of me.
but I could never blame you
for trying -
you know that i would be
the Biggest Bang
this Universe has ever seen.

your peaceful void
laser beams my heart
like an alien abductee.
but some part of me says
“wait, not yet,
there’s more to see and be.”
do you let me go?
or do I just wriggle myself free?
like a fish on a hook
jumping back into a sea
made from salty tears
that taste like being human.

my curious mind
lassos you into a labyrinth
made from existential inquiry.
did I make you?
or did you make me?
am I running towards you?
or are you pulling me?
magnets attracting and repulsing…
who lets go?
or do we set each other free?
like fishermen releasing
a too-small catch
so it can grow and be
raised by streams and sunlight
that feel like touching god.

i look back
as you fade far, far away
into a speck so small.
i’ll never manage to escape.
and that is, as i know,
the magnificence of you.
but you could never blame me
for trying -
you know i only want to be
the sweetest, softest whisper
this Universe has ever heard.

we are a quantum entanglement
my darling.
every particle that we are
held perfectly in place
by an in[di]visible force -
the Theory of We.
